Crispy Potato Cheese Balls – Amazing Potato Snack Recipe!

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 500g Potatoes
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 3/4 tsp Salt
  • 100g All-purpose Flour
  • 100g Corn Flour
  • 1 tbsp Cooking Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 Egg
  • 30ml Water
  • 20g of Reserved Flour Mixture
  • Mozzarella Cheese (5g per piece)
  • Breadcrumbs (for coating)
  • Cooking Oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Boil the Potatoes: Begin by boiling the potatoes until soft. Drain and mash them well in a large bowl.
  2. Season the Potatoes: Add salt and pepper to the mashed potatoes, mixing them thoroughly.
  3. Prepare the Flour Mixture: In a separate bowl, combine all-purpose flour, corn flour, and baking powder. Set aside 20g of this mixture for later use.
  4. Create the Dough: Add 1 tbsp cooking oil, the egg, and 30ml of water to the remaining flour mixture, stirring until it forms a smooth dough.
  5. Form the Balls: Take a small portion of the mashed potatoes (about 20g), flatten it, and place a piece of mozzarella cheese (5g) in the center. Wrap the potato around the cheese to form a ball.
  6. Coat the Potato Balls: Roll each potato ball first in the reserved flour mixture, then in breadcrumbs to coat them evenly.
  7. Fry the Potato Balls: Heat oil in a pan and deep-fry the potato balls for about 3 minutes, or until golden and crispy on the outside.
  8. Drain and Serve: Remove the crispy potato cheese balls from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil. Serve them hot!

Notes

Ensure the mozzarella cheese is properly enclosed in the potato to prevent it from leaking while frying.

You can add herbs like parsley or oregano to the mashed potatoes for extra flavor.

For a gluten-free version, replace the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free alternative.
